In this interesting newspaper article from 1977, it is clear that producers have a different view of C. S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, than they do today, as expressed in the article "Don't Mess With Aslan (The Close Reader)". While this 1977 article does not mention the Christian nature of the series, it does mention that the works provide a positive social benefit to children, as well as an entertainment benefit. This article proves that it is possible to enjoy, and benefit morally from reading The Chronicles of Narnia, without necessarily recognizing the Christian elements in them. I think that media producers of today would benefit from seeing the value of these works, the way that CBS did in 1977, and continue to produce the works in the celebrated way that Lewis created them.
